Cycle panning shots

These are tries of my panning techniques from the same race. Needless to say my huge less 300mm with a big less hood have succeeded in distracting the young man.:headslap: hope he won't blame me for his result.

These are good panning shots, which really achieve that feeling of speed. I would crop the trailing rider out of the first shot. The second one is the least clear of the 3. The rider in the 3rd one is very crisp, but mostly because the rider himeself is coasting and therefore not moving relative to the frame.

These types of shots are lots of fun for practice and the results can be spectacular.

What sort of racing is this? The bikes look like cyclocross, but all of these shots are on the road.

Yeah this type of shots are very fun to practice but there will be a lot of snatching your hair every time you check the view finder to see if you have got it.:wall-an:

Well my lens 75-300 sigma doesn't have IS and it's difficult working at higher end of the lens. I use Monopod to help me stabilize at lower shatter speeds and it really helps. I read on many forums that monopods wont matter if you know how to move your lens. But for me for now it's helping me.

This poor guys don't have the proper bikes for the road and they are battling it out without they have and giving me the chance to practice.

Cool. Panning shots can be fun. I usually pan with wider angles myself due to the type of cycling I shoot forces me in close.
