Shots like this make me want to get drunk and cry all night. Something between me and the E-3 was not clicking today, every shot I took was awful! This shot hurts. I'm out looking for the mink again when I hear a Redtail Hawk in distress or so it sounds. Looking up I see a bird that first I mistake for a gull carrying some seaweed but soon enough I realize it's a Redtail. I hoist up the E-3 but the damn thing won't lock, instead it starts to hunt...Panic! Suddenly the hawk Dives to the ground and drops what it was carrying and out of nowhere this Bald Eagle swoops down on the discarded Redtail catch. The E-3 refuses to lock and starts to hunt again. I'm so pissed I'm ready to throw the whole system in the creek! Man that's a frustrating deal! It doesn't help that I'm so sick I should really be at home in bed so my emotions are running wild but DAMN!!!!!

Again I screw up the shot but it strikes me as funny how the Eagle takes no chances and grabs a whole half acre of dirt to ensure he got whatever the hawk let go:)

Oh man ... that would be frustrating indeed! Those bald eagles are spectacular ... even out of focus ;)

And to add insult to injury...It's the one bird I always dream of getting right! As soon as I blew this shot, I knew I have to push forward the idea of going north for a few days to catch the Bald Eagle gathering during the Salmon run. If I can shoot them all day, I can get 5 out of 100 as good shots maybe more if I focus :D Here in the city, I get a chance like this maybe once a year and I pooched it.

If it makes you feel any better that would be a good day for me shooting birds in flight. My recycle bin has hundreds of of much worse shots. Just git back on yer horse son!

cheers
