I was in a local mall food court today having some good old Chinese food. A man had seemingly passed out on the floor and was surrounded by security and ambulance personnel. One lady was on the perimeter of the event trying to get a better look when a security guard yelled at her "Hey would you like it if someone was gawking at you if you were him?" and I thought, That is beyond the scope of that persons job description. Indeed...That is a personal judgment and has no place in this event. We live in a world where cameras and crew gather footage for the evening news so we can "Gawk" from our plush old chairs in the comfort of our living rooms and since there was no news crew handy, the woman had to get the image herself. I think the security persons job is solely to make sure the paramedics have an unobstructed workspace not to sit in judgment of a person trying to see what's going on. The funny part was that the woman accused of gawking was really trying to figure out how to place her order at the fast food counter the man had collapsed in front of. There was more than enough room for her to place her order but the security guard insisted on acting as a go between, she took the womans order, then stood at the counter and recited the order to the server (in the very same spot the woman could herself have placed the order) When the order was ready, the guard took the woman's money and paid for the order, gave the woman her change, then made the woman pick it up from the counter:D Sometimes I see stuff that makes no sense whatsoever. Is there like an IQ point that if you fall below that quotient you are automatically hired by a security company?

At the Brisbane Airport I believe there is. We did a job out there recently that lasted 8 weeks and I'm certain if you showed any intelligence at all then you elevated to floor sweeper or something :wall-an: We charged extra to work there because of the security hassles ... I kid you not! :headslap:

i thought it was only here that security guards have strange thinking. looks like it's universal.
maybe because of insecurity?:)
