Hey Everyone!
I am new to the forum, and I pretty new to the world of photography.
I have traveled a lot recently and in showing some people my photographs, they all said I had a knack for photography. So I am interested in getting some critiques from others.

So here is the first I will post. I call it Broken. I took it in NYC last March.

Please be kind, I am new to all this.

I like the lines and the geometry in this shot. I find it quite pleasing so nice job.

This is quite a good shot IMO and gibbon brings up the nice geometry that I agree with. Curves, straight lines even triangles are present in this shot. If this were my shot I might increase the contrast a wee bit and perhaps burn in the top left corner just a wee bit as well.

Nice shot though!

What is burning?
I have heard about it, but I am not quite sure what it is, or how to do it?
It something I can do on photoshop?
Thanks

Burning means darkening and dodging which is the opposite means lightening. Most images need local didging and or burning to bring out the best in the image. It's always these small touches along with controlling the contrast that make the difference between a very good print and an amazing print.

Yes you can dodge and burn in photoshop and you can do it in many different ways. Here is just one way.
