C'mon Kat ... next you'll be calling people 'peasants' ... like I do ;)
I think ... No ... it's not over-done at all, No ... leave the dock as is because I like the shadow there ... it belongs, and Yes ... dodge the hill but only slightly ... it should still be shadowy.
Ha ha. I tell yah..I have to start reading what I type!!!! :p
Thanks MA! :highfive:
This is the second HDR I got last night. It was taken about 30/45 mins before the first. This is the dock, the ice road is just above the dock. People live over on that island and at this time of year I don't know how they do it. I watched a family get into a canoe, paddle over to the start of the ice road and hop on their snowmobiles with canoes on tow. It was soo funny.
I can't wait to get back out there this summer. Even my HDR seems to have gotten better over the winter with all this reading! Or at least I like to think so!!!

Shot 1 is excellent. Aside from Ma's dodge hill suggestion, I wouldn't do a thing.
Shot 2 is also very nice but could use a wee bit more sharpening and some deeper blacks to make the image pop a bit harder.
Hope that helps
Marko
Thank you!
I got dodging done on the first and I agree fully Marco on the second. It really lacks a bit of punch! I'm gonna get that done too!

You have a nice subtle touch with your HDR that really works Kat.

Yeah ditto that. Really really really nice photos.
#1- I'm not sure if you opened up that hill that it'd reveal anything pleasing- This may not make sense but it might create too much "weight" on the left side. It's worth a try. But I'd kinda like to see that result compared to an alternate of the whole hill and tree line entirely in silhouette (of course you wouldn't really see the hill then).
#2- What Marko said.
but WOW!
Thanks again. I love doing HDR photos but find them to take up too much space on my computer..backed off of them big time.

Have you thought about getting an external hard drive to put them on?
I did and it makes a world of difference. :)
Just a thought to help if possible...I think you have so much talent Kat!
We talk about getting something for all the photos. I know we have to soon because it's getting silly!
Thanks Casil! You too! Maybe one of these days I'll get to visit back west, we'll have to have a coffee and shoot up the town! :)
