View Full Version : June 2009 Photography Assignment - Shooting from a low angle or P.O.V

I was thinking that taking a photo from a low point of view (P.O.V.), a sort of ant's eye view so to speak might be interesting. It is summer now so crawling around on the ground won't be too bad of a thing. :)

Just an idea, if someone has some others, jump in. :)

I quite like that idea "shooting from a low angle or low p.o.v".
It will force people to shoot differently.

any other ideas?

thx - Marko

this is not 'friendly' for very senior citizens like me. :)

I'm still up for "action" or "movement" if anyone else is. :)

keep em coming - the topic with the most support wins.

Thx
Marko

I like the low angle POV... You do not have to get on your hands and knees to get a low angle POV :)

I think the camera just needs to be lower than the subject. :)

How about

Raw emotions. Like anger/hate/saness/despair/joy. It may be hard but it could be quite interesting to see how people make out.

I would show you ______ if you came to visit me. You just have to see this.

The body (after seeing shots of a woman and toes :) ) Pick a part and shoot away!

I would vote for raiven's idea "low point of view" - that should be interesting.

Shooting from a low angle or low point of view has the most support so that's the theme for this month's assignment.

Merging suggestion posts and changing the thread title now.
Ok then - who is posting first:)

OK...I'll start off...
I laid on the ground on my belly and took this shot low angle last week. I liked the idea of a sea of yellow.....even if they were weeds! :)

Just a pic of some tracks. Thought it was kind of cool.

Here's another one I'm throwing into the mix. It's a memorial dedicated to WW1 soldiers. I wanted the shot to reflect the time in history...hence the sepia.

Casil I like especially the last one because of the colours!

And here is my hard piece of work. More than an hour I was kneeling/lying on our footpath to get some close shots from this “Bee wolf” (it is an earth wasp digging wholes in sandy ground). It was 28 °C in full sun and I’ve got nearly sunburned .

Whenever our traffic is diverted I went past this green grassed feild and saw this lonely dead tree just stuck in the middle. and each time I went past it I swore to my self I would go there and take some pictures when I had the time and the petrol. Eventually I got there and this grass came up to my waist!

I was out shooting our June snow fall in Calgary. This guy was trotting along in the ditch until I stopped to take his picture. He headed up a hill and turned to see if I was going to leave.

Nice capture of Mr. Coyote. I wouldn't have thought you'd be able to get that close to him.

There are lots of green belts and parks in Calgary. They along with deer and rabbits are becoming habituated to suburban sprawl. The coyote tend to keep to the edge of town or the really big parks but I see deer and rabbits on my front lawn regularly.

P.S. They are starting to get their white winter coats. :D (Joke)

This was a mushroom colony in my backyard. My backyard is infested with fire ants, so I put down an exercise mat to lay on in order to buy myself some time before they overran me. Luckily I only got bit a couple times!

I adjusted the colors and white balance in Lightroom, then applied an unsharp mask and a little Orten Effect in CS3. I hope this works with this image, its my first attempt at this effect.

A total experiment and though not technically perfect I found myself liking it. Shot RAW using an Olympus e-510.

Hmmm. This one is looking up a bit and if you can see by the high tide mark, I am below what sea-level is during high tide. Is that low enough?

Funny thing is, I completely forgot about this month's assignment and yet this morning I took a camera with me and shot a roll on the way to work. Several of them turned out to be down low. I'll put a couple up in a couple days. Some great pics here already, Raiven, I love that stairway.
