July is almost here...anyone have any suggestions on a theme?
thx - Marko

Well, once I saw here a snake from MA (stuffed animal - the snake, not MA :p). That inspired me some weeks ago to take shots from my friends self made teddy bears.
I guess everyone here (even the men ;-)) will have one. How about "showing our stuffed friends"? Just a little crazy guess .

Since it is summer perhaps buskers, street vendors or entertainers, outdoor festivals, outdoor concerts or pancake breakfasts (Stampede starts next week).

We could do a colour, maybe yellow? Just a suggestion...

How about Heat?

How about Heat?

How do you photograph heat?

I'll vote for the music or summer concert theme.

How do you photograph heat? That's part of the challenge.....Interesting!

I like this suggestion - any other Ideas?

On July 1, the idea with the most support wins.

I got this idea from another photo forum and kinda liked it- Out of Focus. Shots that are out of focus but still work somehow.

Or, if we'd rather have something more summery- what about water?

Heat sounds interesting to me. I'd like to see some first though. It's been raining/foggy since Thursday and the forecast has rain/fog/cloud through to Sunday.

Heat or hot, and for our down under crowd just remember you don't know cold

I like the idea of heat.
If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. ;)

(I vote heat)

Ok then, the suggestion posts have been merged and the assignment topic this month, which got the most support is Heat so that's our assignment this month - Thanks for suggesting it jabber.

Ok then - who posts first?

I'll go first. Fireworks, I find, are a little tricky but HOT and I think this one turned out OK and it was taken on July 1st so I think this at least puts me in the right category. :D

I think the trick is to wait until near the end of the month so the post doesn't get forgotten, but I'll jump in early nonetheless.

This sparrow was a masochist and stayed in the summer heat although he was heavy panting as you can see

I think that this one suggest heat very well, if you can imagine the pain that I felt, next nights :headslap: :wall-an:
My wife insisted to use sunscreen, but I refused, I'm a man, I can resist to any sun :wall-an:

Heat you only can fight with water - even a wolf:

How about this?

I wish I had given better thought to framing, I wouldn't have the car and stuff in there. On the other hand, it's my first roll from the medium format (Mamiya RB67) and the resolution on the CD with the low-res scan is breath taking.

I guess I'd better submit something since heat was my idea. Here's a competitor in the São Paulo marathon cooling off:

My wife works with these guys at the training academy. This photo was taken of her after a session in the flash over chamber. It's not my photo, but it is my happy lady.

We apparently set another record in Vancouver at 36.5 degrees. Maybe August's assignment should be "Cold".

Please don't say that!!!! All I've seen in the last month is rain..I mean every single blessed day!

Hmmm..then again..maybe that would work for me..reverse psychology action!

I start the West Coast Trail on Monday I'm hoping for a dry week. It will be nice to hike it without finishing looking like the monster from the bog.
