This doll was just lying there waiting to fall and was out of reach (sort of). Curious to know what people think of these. Thx - Marko

These are just my thoughts, just lacks drama, not sure how to explain it, the photos are too sharp and the doll seems a bit bright in the facial area. I would think have been much more dramatic under a cloudy, dark sky or even dusk or dawn. The bottom two are the better of the angles, the top one is just too busy with the rocks and shadows. Also the doll just looks too new, if it had been a bit more weather worn and maybe a bit scuffed up may have also helped, but anyway just my thoughts, others may see them in a different light so to speak.

I'm kinda with AL on this one. The doll is so fresh and "static" that it lacks drama though I would have taken a few shots myself if I were there.

The first shot should be straightened (the bottom edge is crooked to me) and cropped just where the shadow becomes sunlight.

Number three is the most interesting as it has a certain feeling of danger due to the angle. It looks like the doll could fall at any moment.

The shadows of #1 definitely are distracting to my eye. #2 as Ig stated and I agree looks a bit crooked and I think #3 and the one in the next post are the bests shot/angles of the lot. If it were me, I would try it in black and white to see if it makes the doll a little more subtle and less bright. B/W might also add some drama to it as well.

Just my thoughts.... :)

Interesting....ya win some you lose some i guess....I thought it had a certain forlorn feeling but maybe the doll is too new. (damn double income parents)

In terms of the shadows in shot 1, those were deliberately burned in. My intent was to show the reflections of people looking at the doll. (sort of like people stopping to see a car wreck)

But I guess this ain't workin for people which is nice to find out quickly.
Thanks all - Marko

Last shot in B&W.

I find these disturbing in a way. I don't know why but I do. :)

I like 2 & 4.

1 seems messy. In 3 I am bothered by the water that is not falling vertically.

As this next graphic photo will attest to, dollicide is a growing problem in this country. Oh, the humanity!

sorry that was off topic and silly, but the thread had pretty much run it's course...

FWIW at this point, I kinda like the 1st shot- the shadows of onlookers and the doll being small and near the edge of the frame, it gets the mind wondering and the eye wandering...too bad the shadow wasn't just of a lone little girl in a skirt with pigtails so it was obvious that we were looking at the victim of the sad tale.
