Lol, instead of working this is how I waste my time. Anyway here is a screenshot of my desktop.

It's getting pretty bad, those folders are the result of several attempts to bring some order to it. It's stuff that I meant to look at later, and may, on a rainy day. That's Fedora OS (http://fedoraproject.org/) by the way. Kurt

I do pretty much the same - I have no shortcuts on my desktop only folders, ALL the shortcuts get stacked vertically in the quicklaunch bar. Saves tons of space.

You may want to try that raiven; just drag the shortcuts to the bottom of the screen in the quicklaunch section. Then you can delete the shortcuts.

I don't know if this is right or not..but I've been told stuff on your desktop just slows you down.

Now my desktop looks nice..go through the rest of the computer and you'd be in shock!

I can't imagine that, if so, it's OS dependant, on my system the desktop is just another folder.
Yeah, that's messy all right. Periodically I put them in folders to try to clean it up but then I forget them. So I stopped doing so.

I can't handle anything on my desktop longer than it takes me to file it. All my folders at the bottom are black folder icons. I file everything in a specific place according to my method of filing so I seldom can't find a file even from a while back. For me, having a developed filing system speeds up my work flow a lot. I keep all program shortcuts in the quick launch toolbar also.

Must be nice to be organized:clap:
