I spent some time with this little fella at Fort Calgary a couple of days ago. I was curious to see how close I could get so I stalked him for about a 1/2 an hour, each time moving a bit closer and just sitting and waiting until he popped his head out!
I took this image with me basically sitting very still almost on top of his hole! he actually came out of it at one point too but ran back in when he heard the shutter go off.
I think that's me in the reflection of his eye!

Fixated on gophers lately, eh? Well, it's paid off, that's a great shot!

Yeah...there's just so many of them and they're so easy to get close to and capture!
I guess the same goes for the pelicans too at the weir!
Thanks!

Nice Job! Casil, how gratifying is it to accomplish things like this. Most times people think pictures are easy take, but they never understand the time and patience it takes to get the real good ones. This is why going to the zoo taking pictures is completely overrated. It is soooooo much better to wait and work at something. Congrats.

Wow...thanks everyone...Funny I was out tonight and noticed boy are the gophers ever getting fat! Little pot bellies everywhere...I guess they are getting ready for winter hibernation or something!
