I thought this might be fun...Think of anything sci-fi you've read or seen and the future tech that has been presented. What concept have you seen or read about that you feel would make your life kick-ass if it were available today? I'm going to say...The "Star trek Transporter!" If I could sleep in the extra hour and not have to deal with the daily drive, I would be ECSTATIC! Remember though...Everything comes with a price. Imagine everyone having a transporter in their home and CNN reports a jumper from the empire state building....Crowd control would be an understatement. If I could just use it for good things though..........

Thanks TT, I'd all but forgotten that flick... It needs to go into my collection! Haven't seen it in the stores as far back as I can remember. I remember thinking as I watched that I needed a handmaiden too! Our reasons are probably different though :)

For me, it would be the Time Machine described by H.G. Wells. Selfishly, I would prefer that I be the only one to have the ability and would love to explorer a strange set of paradoxes similar to those that appear in the short story “By His Bootstraps” by Robert A. Heinlein.

T'pol, Seven of Nine, Starbuck from BSG, the list is long, but you get the idea....

On a more serious note, somebody from the religous right actually admitting that Feuerbach was correct, that "It is not as in the Bible, that God created man in his own image. But, on the contrary, man created God in his own image."

As is so often a recurring theme in Asimov's work.

what about the holo-deck developed in 'The Next Generation' and taken to a new level in 'Voyager'? that would be cool.

from BSG how about being a cylon and able to regenerate? without the angst though. :headslap:

Anything Heinlein would be worth having :) I loved that guy!
