View Full Version : Anybody Out There?

Once upon a time, I had a MAC IIfx that I let the SETI project use full time in there efforts to find Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. Some of you may remember the part of that project where you could donate the unused processing capacity of your home computer to SETI so they could tap into that huge world wide resource to aid them in processing info gained from radio telescopes or some such technical stuff that I never pretended to understand. I just thought it was cool that I had a computer that I wasn’t using for anything else anyway sitting in a corner of my room looking for signs of intelligence amongst the stars.

I wonder if they ever found anything or if they’d even tell us if they did?

Lovely colours, Barefoot. Interesting comment too. I remember the SETI software. I still sometimes turn it on and use it. Then I find something about it that's annoying me and I end up turning it off for a while. Just remember "The Truth is Out There" ;)

Nice shot, did the composition here. Even though this is not the critique forum, I'd love to see that yellow pyramid glow brighter by about 10-20%.
Just a thought and a fine image either way :highfive:.

Thanks, Iggy. The colors of the sky sure weren’t the colors I wanted. Whenever I’m doing something else that keeps me from sitting at the parking deck waiting on the sunset, its then that the colors in the sky are just what I want. Whenever I’m sitting at the parking deck waiting on sunset, the sky is too drab and overcast. Go figure.

Thanks, Marko. When I finally get the sunset I want I'll post another in this thread with a brighter pyramid.

I hear you! I've taken to carrying my camera with me EVERYWHERE now. I still don't always get to stop and shoot due to time pressures but if the opportunity arises...

I tell yah..I can plan days upon days to get a sunset and it's the one that I don't plan to go out and shoot that is the best! :wall-an:

Neat photo!

I know just what you mean. Mine is with me everywhere I go. Most of the time there's a couple in the truck with tripods, speedlights and the whole shooting match for good measure. I've been fooling around with this shot for a while now. Just can't seem to get the timing right. It's really not even the best time of the year. I think in early spring the sun sets directly over the pyramid.

Have you tried sunrise?

Sunrise? I've never seen one of those. Are they any good?

All kidding aside, I don't have access to an elevation that would make sunrise work for me. I'll get lucky on the sunset with this shot one day. :fingerscr

Very nice image Barefoot. And what is this 'sunrise' they speak of?
