Females are never as pretty as males huh M ;)

Maybe down there but up here it's the other way round :D

Mad Aussie

Well I was talking about birds ... feathered ones. :)

Michaelaw

Thank God! I thought you were trying to turn me :D It's funny though now that you mention it, that the big colors seem to go on the males in the bird kingdom. When you think about it, even humans tend to sway toward the male birds when judging their beauty. Well...Now I'll have a leg up when I reincarnate as a naturalist:)

It's quite common throughout nature that the males are more attractive or in some impressive. The reason being that they need to be to compete to attract the females attentions and get laid! :)

So what happened to the human side of this? I've seen some guys with really LOW color levels going out with some fairly well polished birds ;)

Mad Aussie

The human female intelligence levels appear to be far less consistent than the rest of the animal kingdom! ;)

Well now ... just in case you are being typical woman and jumping to the wrong conclusions ... lets clarify shall we? :p
What I mean is that human females intelligence levels have a very wide range (males do also of course) but in birds ... they are all appear to be much the same. ;)

Just to reference the OP for a quick sec:) This well could be a female and even without color, I still think she looks hot!

Woody's mate is a beautiful bird! Cute capture, Michaelaw.
but not all male birds are more beautiful color-wise then the female. Take the eclectus as an example.

Can you guess which is the female?

Mad Aussie
10-12-2009, 01:48 AM
Actually I think the green one is prettier myself ... and that's the male. But you have a point there Raiven ... it's a close call and many will side either way on that one me thinks :)

From a book I read at one time; If it was not for the forgiveness of the female, our species would have died out a long time ago.

Thatès cuz in the bird world the females get to pick the male she wants to mate with...not the other way around...males have to work at it in the bird world...and I dont mean with using cheesy pick up lines either...lol!
:highfive: :evil2: :D

Mad Aussie

Yup..this is what happens when "Calgary cold weather cabin fever" takes hold!
Throw in a long weekend and it makes for a dangerously sick and twisted combination...especially if those Aussies get involved!

She seems like such an inquisitive and brave little bird. Those photos really show off her personality.

Michaelaw

Good observation Raiven. She sat on that branch looking one way, then the other. She would let out a call now and then but was always checking left, right. My impression was that she was looking and calling for Woody but I can emotionalize anything :D
