Did this one up tonight with Gimp. Is there anything about the PP work that stands out?

Nothing looks out of place for me. No sharpness/focus issues that don't look due to aperture choice. No noise either.
Cool flower.

Apart from a lack of sharpness on the stamen I don't see anything out of place either.

Agree on the sharpness but the PP looks good to my eye!

yup, I agree with above (like I would argue with these guys :)).

but now I'm curious: what was the 'before' image like?

I'll post the original tonight. I used GIMP to darken up the large leaf to the right and was wondering if the edges were visible. Also, I lassoed (is that a word) around the centre of the flower and used the unsharp mask on it to try and sharpen it up. Original to follow...

?? Sorry. I'm confused. I don't have any filters yet :( Hoping Santa will bring me an ND and a Polarizing filter. :D

Looks like a good job to me. As I said the stamen isn't as sharp as it could be but it may have been too far soft in the first place.

The original. Like I said, I'm really just trying to gauge how well my PP skills are progressing. If it wasn't obvious then that's a start. Usually I mangle the thing! :)

Compared to the PP version I reckon you've done well!

yup agreed - sharpening aside (which may have to do more with focus than PP) the PP here is very nicely done!
