My first stab at concert photography. This was at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Nice!! At first I thought you'd used a flash but then realised it as just very bright stage lighting.

That dude goes all out in his costume selection doesn't he!! :headslap: I guess you don't go there to marvel at his colour coordination and dress sense though.

MA, actually they did go all out with their costumes at the start of the show...

Then they invited people on stage to help them get out of the costumes...

good pics! It is tricky getting concert pics, but it helps when your seats are so close;)

Considering how eccentric Weezer is, the crossways angles of shooting are really quite effective. Very cool set!

Kat, I have to admit, it might have helped a little bit! I actually had a photographer's pass, so I got right up on by the stage with the pros. Pretty fun stuff!

Bambi, Weezer's an alternative rock band, they've had a few hits on mainstream radio.

I see Sidney's on the bass drum Jason...did he get a pass too and did the Weezer guys get to meet him? :)

Great shots also in tough lighting situations..!

Wow! Great shots! f4, ISO800 - what are you using for a lens on that puppy if you don't mind me asking.

Casil, no, Sidney didn't get to go to the show--but MTV.com will be coming to my house on Friday to film Sidney. They're going to put together some crazy piece where Sidney will "interview" Rivers Cuomo about the new album. The lighting was definitely a challenge. I wasn't sure how the shots would turn out using ISO 800, but anything lower just wasn't practical.

As far as the lens Iggy, it's just the standard kit lens 18-55mm /F4 that comes with the Rebel XTI. I'm hoping to upgrade sometime soon.

That lens is serving you very well but I think you, like I, will be very happy with a real piece of quality glass on the front of that camera. :fingerscr

Nice concert work Jason. I love Weezer after discovering them at the end of this Deadkidz short film I watched a few years back The song "Only in dreams is featured at the end
