Has anyone seen Rosie Hardy's work before?? Wow! Truly inspiring stuff (for me, anyways)!!

It's not for everyone (and certainly not for the 'purists'!) And I know some would call it 'digital art' rather than 'photography'. Whatever you call it though... 'a rose by any other name...'

Of course, I tend to like the 'ends' of the photo-spectrums - unaltered capture-the-moment, candid, photojournalism type shots at the one end... and the really artistic/expressive/creative work at the other end. I guess I like 'extremes'.

Anyways... it brings me to my questions:
1) Is there a particular style of photo that really, really 'speaks to your soul?' If so, what, and why?

2) Have you come across any inspiring, muse-like photostreams on Flickr?

I can't honestly say there is any particular style that speaks to my soul but I can say that all images have that ability. I'm most definitely not a purist. If your work speaks to me then I'm in. It wasn't that long ago photography wasn't even considered an art form and when it did gain acceptance it had to be black and white. Finally color work was accepted. Resistance to change has always been a problem IMHO. I personally don't care at the end of the day how you made your piece speak to me but that it did is enough :)

Some really nice and interesting stuff here for sure. Which brings me to a flickr pet peeve (and I have a few about flickr) and that is pointless notes. Dude, you don't need a note to tell me the center of a rose is beautiful. you can add it on the comments and I can find the center all by myself.

Rose is not only very pretty ... she's a deep thinker it seems. I really like her concepts. Some photos seem average and others are stunning in every way. Might be my own perceptions.

Fair enough AcadieLibre :-) I'm going to guess though it's more an issue with the 'style' of work, rather than the artist? T.M.M. (too much manipulation)? I certainly respect that view.

I just quit a group because of this reason. People actually had the audacity to recrop my photos with those note thingys...I don't mind if you suggest a crop or removal of something.... by all means go ahead and send me your thoughts, but to go ahead and actually post a crop/note directly on the photo without asking just really annoyed me! Especially when I looked at some of the examples of the line marker's work on their flickr site.
Worry about your own images before you go ahead and mar mine! :mad:

I love Brooke's work - so very, very, creative and expressive!

Although I'll likely never have that level of PP ability, and even if I do *zero* post processing of an image, I'm still inspired by the imagination and artistry of these images.

I'm not big on photos that have been manipulated beyond what I consider is still a photo. It becomes an image to me then.

But not all Rose's stuff is manipulated heavily.

I really like the shot on page 3 called 'It's good to be alive' ... where she is flicking her hair while waist deep in water in the rain. Lovely wet shirt boobs aside, this shot is brilliant I reckon.

I resemble that remark! ;)
But I was saying that so as to try to show that the boobies weren't what had attracted to that photo. Without them the photo would have the same appeal to me.
