Photo Contests: Photographers LOSE

Well first podcast I have bothered to listen to, I must be an oddity but I prefer reading and listening to music but I must say it is very well done and worth a listen. I used to post photos on some sites but never photos I thought were my better ones because once something is online is is very hard to get rid of. I also read every term of service agreement before I post anywhere which really needs to be stressed when your joining a forum or any other online site, contest where you want to post your photos, take the time and read it, if you don't understand it don't post until it is explained to you. Now I will be going over the achieved podcasts and seeing what else may pique my interest, seems I may have been missing out lol, not really still prefer reading and music but will add it to my options now. I am impressed with the sound quality and how it held my interest. Good job Marko.

Great podcast Marko. I should indicate that when I first became a media consultant, I was frustrated by getting a lot of flak from administrators, a lot of which was contradictory, dealing with copyright.

I determined at that point, that this situation would never be repeated. I would ensure that I knew more about copyright than anyone in the media field. I reached that goal, when In a public forum, I took on a legal expert on copyright who had a hand in writing the revisions to the Canadian Copyright Act and forced her to backdown on the issues I presented.

I also presented a workshop to television producers on copyright with 5 different scenarios to discuss and determine whether they were violations of copyright or not. These were not interpretations but black and white written in the act as either allowed or violations. ALL of their determinations were wrong.

I have also been on other forums and found photographers have NO conception at all about their rights to take photos and too often they give up those rights. My contention has always been: Use them or lose them! Use your rights or you will use them in law. Court decisions are often based on current practice and if current practice is that photographers don't use and demand their rights, they will lose them.
