It's stories like this that re affirm my faith in humanity. Well some humanity anyway. But as long as there are people like this lady there's hope for the world:

last year she saw a starving horse off of the highway and talked the owners into selling him to her. He went from this:

This is almost the exact thing that happened to my Mum's/niece's horse Dusty.
He was left to starve in a field and went finally for auction. The woman who owns the stables my niece jumps out of was out in Vancouver one day looking for horses and when he came out she saw him and nobody would bid on him....she stuck her hand up a $100 to see if she could get some kind of bidding started and won him at $100. If she didn't I'm certain he would have ended up in a can of dogfood. The vet said when they got him home that he was really touch and go and he wasn't sure if he would survive because he was so neglected and his health compromised. But he did and uduing his recovery my Mum developed a real soft spot for him and bought him for $1000.
Dusty had never done any kind of jumping before as in his former life he was a pack horse on trail rides (they think) but he took to jumping like a duck to water and since all this went down about 3-4 years ago he has won a few competitions and the instructors at the stables say he is a natural. :)
