sometimes, not often, i think a shot works that has movement. this is one of them for me... do you agree? and if not, what would make it a stronger movement photo?5107

I like it too. I also like intentionally slow shutter speeds to project motion at times, and this was IMO a good subject for this treatment.

I'm definitely liking it as well. And I agree ... occassionally this sort of thing works very well ... as it has right here!

I like this one TT.
You may ALSO want to try this with flash with a shutter speed of 1/8 or 1/15
That way you'll get some sharpness on the man while keeping the movement.
Hope that helps!

But I want to make a great suggestion too!! :yell:
Oh :lightbulb ... I know ... 2nd sync shutter on the flash! That's what I'd use ;)
But in the end you did so well here anyway!

MA - is that the shutter delay thing?

No TT not really. It's a flash control.
Normally your camera fires the flash the moment you push the button. So if you had a shutter speed of 1 sec, the flash would fire right away and the shutter would stay open for the rest of the second.
However, on 2nd Sync (called 2nd Curtain also) the camera takes the photos with the 1 sec shutter but just as it's about to close, it fires the flash then.
The result is a blur of movement because of the long shutter speed, but if the flash settings, light etc are right ... the flash freezes some of the action at that last moment giving you a photo with both movement and sharp elements.
Here's an example ... http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f2/2nd-sync-flash-1856.html
