I've downloaded the complete works of Jane Austin, a Stephen King novel, Jane eyre, Wuthering Heights and a Tale of Two Cities.

This is so perfect. I travel a lot and trying to pack the right number of books is almost impossible. this is the size of a readers digest mag!

Let us know how it goes Bambi ... my wife is very interested in one as well.

Is it is as good as the Kindle and compatible?

So far so good. I have been reading on it both in the car and before going to sleep and it feels much like reading a book. I read A LOT! I also found out I can download books from the library for free. :D

I first heard about the kiindle but it wasn't liscenced for Canada and further research brought me to the Sony. I like how it connects to the store to purchase if you like. I haven't figured it all out yet but so far two thumbs up

Reading while driving is dangerous :)

Leanne has done some research and has found that the Sony is far more versatile as it caters for more file formats including things like mp3 and pdf.

What's the screen like? It's supposed to be easy to read due to the paper like appearance that stop glare like our normal pc monitors.

silly man. I wasn't driving!!! I let Ed do that :P

I agree although I haven't checked out the sound quality of the MP3 player. Oh, here's an idea: If Marko's podcast transcrips are on PDF then I could have both the audio and visual.... !

Anyway, I find that there is no glare and it's easy to read. However, in low light it's not so great. My mom bought me a cover with a light imbedded in it that works very well though in those conditions.

Leanne had read something about that low light issue. Maybe the next version will address that problem.

I REALLY wan tone of these but am a little worries about the durability of them. My girlfriend would be thrilled if I was able to cut down on my book collection. I've switched to audio books but I really like to "read". Does it seem pretty sturdy?? I saw a lot of info on the unit that amazon put out, they seemed to break pretty easily.

Cheers
Chris

HI Chris, it doesn't feel flimsy. It feels like a cell phone or a palm pilot. definitely feels more sturdy then the i-touch or i-phone. However, I can't really say at this point how durable it is.

I like the idea of them and considered getting one as I do a lot of reading but hoping the come out with colour screens. I read a lot of books with graphics or other images that are in colour. So I hope you like it, if you read just novels I think they are great I read novels and tech books so I need the images in colour.

I wouldn't call it a "sexy" gift. It's a very cool thing, don't get me wrong. But I'm sure if I gave my girlfriend something like that, all she'd do in bed for at least a month is read...

hey 42 ... maybe if you loaded it with sexy stuff she wouldn't read in bed too long ;)
