light meters in camera

I noticed 2 meters on right side of camera. I have minolta srt102.
I'm trying to figure what the rules are or tips when using these needles. I have one needle that moves up or down and another that looks like a miniature magnifying glass. I'm wondering do I have to have needle match up with magnifying glass needle? Please help me out. I'm a newbie

Yes you are correct. You must match up (or center) the needle and the magnifying glass and your exposure (under normal circumstances - such as mixed tones in the scene as opposed to a solid black wall) should be correct.

This camera is a GREAT camera for learning photography - because you the photographer make all the decisions so you learn what you are doing.

The next important step is to understand the theory and relationship between film speed - aperture and shutter speed.

Should my needle be identical to the on in image or should both my needles be dead in center?

Both needles should be as close to the center as possible.

Both needles should be on top of each other with the line one going through the centre of the one with the circle, but not necessarily in the centre of the frame, since in bright light they will be closer to the top.

BTW, it is two needles but only one light meter.
