I took this a couple years ago, and will have to dig for the original as this shot has been processed heavily and ignorantly. It is the wake left by a western grebe as he dove to hunt. It was taken at sunrise.

I kind of see what you were going for here CCS but at least this version of the image needs a lot of help.
Areas of concern are sharpness, noise and overall composition. Personally this is an image that I would not try to save. I might work the puppy in post to get 'something' but as a photo, I'm afraid I do not see huge potential here. Just my :twocents:, hope it helps - Marko

I don't know what a grebe is but the wake is kind of cool. I like what you were trying to do with this shot. I can't argue with Marko though as he's made some great points.

the wake is really neat! the noise is distracting - maybe a smaller version might be less revealing?

A Grebe is a water bird Iggy. He has just dived.
This is a shot that JumpinJimmyJava would process and make something out of for sure!

Yeah, it is pretty coarse.
What I was looking for is input on the composition and the theme. Often I like to shoot at sunset and sunrise because of the contrast, clear air and the colors.
I hope to find the original to post here to give you all a chance to process it and then tell me how and why.
Still learning to learn.
I have pretty thick skin folks, so lay it on me, all of it helps me learn.

Love it when they ask for it!! ;)
This is one you'll look back at some time in the near future and realize you were clutching at straws ;)
You've shown greater promise in other shots I wouldn't bother too much with this one. It won't be long before you take something similar that well taken and you'll be happy to let this one go.
