Magpies are quite the nest architects. Not only do they build a sturdy nest of twigs and like, but they also build a covering/roof for the nest to protect the babies from the elements...they are the beavers of the bird world. :)

I like the lines in the first one, love the red punch in each and neat nest!

Thanks...I watched a couple of them building one last year....it was really interesting to watch. Other birds will take over the nest too as they know a good thing when they see it. :D
I think they are good parents as well because they fiercely defend their chicks when fledging time comes around....they will attack/dive anything that gets even remotely close!
