Agathla Peak is a volcanic plug rising about 1500 feet above the surrounding desert a few miles north of Kayenta, AZ, on the way to Monument Valley. Known by locals as 'El Capitan', it was formed when magma cooled inside a volcano, and the softer rock of the volcano itself eroded away... 40D, 17-35 lens @ 35mm, 1/320 @ f/8...
