so I've walked by this tree a number of times and always been impressed with it. the other day I finally decided to take some pictures of it.

I like the first one for its color and textures. The lighting is cool too, did you use the onboard flash here?

Actually I like them all for different reasons.

Boy when you're wrong, you are wrong! That tree is not dead...It's resting!

thanks Michael! Yes the flash was used here. I don't have an external flash yet. Still figuring out the bells and whistles that came with the camera.

it is a cool tree though. and I am sorry Michael but I've watched it for a few months and I can assure you it is dead. It's definitely not pining for the fjords!

I like the way the on board handled the first shot, to my mind it got a decent fill light splayed out across the scene which IMHO gives the shot legs.

Very nice series Bambi. I especially like the second shot.

I've seen similar sights in my travels (lots of deadfall in NS) but have never really felt like I could do them justice. This is a pretty good attempt here, Bambi. Nice captures. The first is my favourite too. The fill light helped nicely.

thanks guys. As a first attempt I'm happy with it but I will go back and try again. My fingers froze after 5 minutes and I had to leave. But with luck there's a break in the weather and I will get back. I put one of the shots in the assignment thread and here's the last half decent one.
Thanks for explaining how the flash helped here. I am still trying to learn about how flash works/doesn't work on a shot.

I really enjoyed you last photo post Bambi. With the entire tree. Wonderful depth and light. Haunting lonely feel. I would say perfect - jimmy :)
