So in continuing the 'let's explore winter' thing I offer some examples of the not so kind end of winter. The sun never rises very high, temps stay low and without new snowfall to liven things up, things get very bleak. Another month of this and I'll be so ready for spring.

This apple orchard is in easy reach and I love the creepy effect of both the trees themselves and their shadows.

Yesterday's sunrise was rather unspectacular, but as I was in the middle of a crispy, frozen field I decided to make the best of it.

hey thanks...I forgot about this thread. Some of my more subtle efforts here. That orchard is fun...I go there a lot.

Thanks all. I find with subdued subject matter, composition counts even more than usual. Esp w/the sunrise shot. There was basically no color in the sky at all and so using the other elements in the scene became really important.
