Actually you'd say Smaaaht. Like if you were from Revere.

Ig. Anyway...this is Smart's Brook up in Waterville Valley. I have no idea why the water is green, but it's an easy location to get to and big with photographic possibilities. I'm definitely going back to the gorge during the spring melt. It seems mid-afternoon in winter is when the light is best, so probably late afternoon further on into the year.

I'm so glad I got up there after our only good snowfall...the boulders are bare now and not nearly so interesting.

This green cast is SO hard to get in a photograph. I have a few where it doesn't show at all and my friend who was with me didn't get any that showed the green properly.

This is the gorge where the water really rushes around and flows everywhere.

This is just to the left of that last shot. Not the best in the world, but it gives an idea of what's there.

And last, but not least, the trail up there. Slick and hard-packed I really appreciated my MicroSpikes!

Anyway...thanks for looking.

#2 and #3 are my favourites. You might find that green will pop more if you tack on a polarizing filter. It'll filter out the reflections and give you a little more saturation. At least that's what happened for me with the blues in this river shot: http://www.photography.ca/Forums/f11/icy-waters-7233.html

That was with a polarizer...I remember because later when I took it off, I dropped it in the snow. : ) The green was really hit or miss. I think a lot of it had to do with the angle to the sun when the photo was taken.
