This little fellow has been living on this branch for well over a year now. He's well out of the reach of any lens I own and there's no way to get closer. Today I thought "Screw it, that's the best I can do for the moment" Don't quite get how they get through the winter but they do:) And yes I placed him right dead center

What is he? A Rainbow Bee Eater? Hummingbird?

I believe he is an Anna's Hummingbird...they are year round residents on the coast. They are very territorial and guard their spots fiercely, especially if it's near food.
My Mum gets a few at her feeder....they love those nectar feeders. Tough little buggers and fearless too. When they get pissed off, the flash their chest and head bright ruby red!
Neat shot MAW...I appreciate how hard these guys are to get...so fast!

He's a hummingbird alright, really tiny, maybe 2.5 inches in length not counting beak and tail.

Well that really is small and I can appreciate how hard it is to get them large in frame then. We have little wrens that pose a similar problem.
