I was trying for the bulding when a cyclist serendipitously rode by as I was snapping...thought it made for a more interesting photo! :)

It absolutely did! Great shot! It might be me but it might be even a little better if you straighten it a bit.

I have been trying to straighten it for hours! :wall-an: I levelled it by the windows but there seems to be some lens distortion that I can't seem to fix without losing part of the bike...i finally gave up! :headslap:

You were doing the correct thing by using the windows to level here Casil. The brickwork in relation to the sides of the frames are distorted by lens distortion. Only way to get it clode would be not to use a straight rotate tool but use a perspective or even warp/distort tool.

I think the cyclist adds something here too.



And while on the subject of cycling ... yesterday morning we headed out at daybreak for our usual 54 k bike ride out to Redcliffe and back. 2 mates were along, as was my wife, Leanne. Great ride ... nice seabreezes. Then 2 k’s from the end Wingy, Alien and I started our sprint for the top of the last hill. We’d just gone through a roundabout. When we finished I looked back for Leanne and she was nowhere. Maybe got caught in the traffic at the roundabout I thought. By the time I had the bike in the van I knew it was more than that ... puncture I was hoping but there was no phone call to say come get me. So close to the finish she wouldn't bother fixing the puncture right there. I figured she might have crashed and immediately headed back the way we’d come. I was almost back when the phone rang and strange voice told me Leanne had crashed at the roundabout just as I came into view.

Leanne was lying where she landed after slamming into the curb at 40 kph (her GPS told on her :) ) and hit her head and shoulder on the footpath .... body on the grass in someone’s front yard. The resident had rushed out immediately upon hearing the crash and had kept her still and used her phone to call the ambulance. When I got there a cop on her way to work was there as well. The ambulance took awhile getting there but we finally got her loaded up with a egg on her eye socket and nasty looking shoulder.

In the end the bump on the head is fine but her shoulder is a separated AC joint and very, very painful.

I went home and emailed several of her clients and got her programmers organised for the day, did the washing etc before heading off to the hospital.

When I got her home yesterday she wanted a shower but she totally passed out twice from the pain. I had to cut her cycling jersey off her and a sponge bath had to suffice while she was lying down. From there I got her dressed again and on the couch and I spent the day doing housework and taking care of Leanne’s business stuff right through to about 8pm last night.

Today it’s been more housework, PO Box trip, emails, food shopping, and I’m supposed to take her back to the hospital at 2.15pm this afternoon for physio.
Cancelling that one. She is still way too light headed to stay upright for long. I showered her earlier and again she almost passed out and collapsed (had to fall to the shower floor) in the shower.

In 20 years, this is her first crash on a road bike so that's a good thing. And her baby (her carbon Pinarello bike) is ok too. A buckled wheel awaits my attention when I get a moment.
There's a job opening here for a sexy female to scratch me because I don't have time ;)
No Iggy, wearing a dress and lipstick doesn't qualify you for the job!! ;)

Jebus MA that is brutal! I'm glad Leanne is okay. We are doing the shoulder joint in school this week and I can totally understand why she is in so much pain! I know exactly where it is and what's going on. Please give her my best wishes and if you need anything advice wise on therapy treatment/healing or related let me know as I can talk to my instructors and get back to you.

I just use the tools I mentioned in photoshop. I'm sure Gimp has the same tools.

Fab shot Casil. Nice contrast. Yep, there are angles and lines everywhere that do distract a bit and make it hard to straighten.

Yep, there is a perspective correction tool in the GIMP. I have used it once, it just worked so well I don't recall anything about it.

Wow, that's not good news about Leanne. Wish here well. What is the short/long term prognosis? You remember my friend Andrew that rode with us to Lake Manchester? His wife did here ACL a couple of weeks ago. Slow speed stack, shoes didn't unclip.

Not sure on the prognosis. Alien did his awhile back ... had problems for a few weeks and then it got better. He says the shoulder clicks a lot now but is fine. Someone Leanne knows says she had trouble with hers healing for months and months so I guess we wait and see.

Thank God! I haven't seen my dress in years and I really haven't found the right shade of lipstick to go with it! :eek:

If you're using PS CS3 in filters/distort pulldown there is a lens correction tool Casil.

Well I have not read all the posts so I do not cloud my comments, which you are free to ignore lol. Sorry the bike rider blends way to much into the background and appears to be more of a distraction than part of the photo. If I was to see it I would have thought the cyclist just was there and the photographer did not notice. If your background was lighter or the cyclist was wearing or dressed in lighter clothing I think you have something but a light background would not work so the cyclist should be more prominent and lighter clothing, as it is now just not working. As I said feel free to ignore me .....

first of all:
Casil it's a wonderful photo. Love it. Paint Shop Pro has a great perspective tool. Very easy to use. the demo is for 25 days if you want to try it :).

MA: oh good heavens. Poor Leanne. I hope she's okay. My first thoughts though were to to wonder if she's lightheaded because of the pain or due to a concussion. Keep an eye on her. If it gets worse she will need a cat scan. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she has a quick recovery :fingerscr

I think I need to play around with this more. i tried the perspecitve and distort tool in PSE7 but wasn't happy with the results.

Yep ... I'm looking after her. She just had a nice spaghetti on toast lunch.

Bambi ... Leanne is actually prone to lightheadedness so when she's injured it increases. No concussion symptoms were found at the hospital.

MA I will speak to my instructors tomorrow and get and advice I can regarding treatment and anything you can do at home to make her more comfortable. :)
Did they put the clavicle back in place in hospital or are they waiting? What type separation is it? Type 1, 2 etc.
Are there any soft tissue injuries also? Tendons/ligaments/muscles?
Any info you can give me helps. :)

They did mention the Clav being now twisted due to the ligament being pulled by the ac separation. They seemed to think she'll have a lump up there due to the clav not returning. At least how I understood it but this was all in the emergency wards. The consultation was very quick and we never saw the x-rays.

I think we would have learnt more about it today at Physio but I can't keep her upright enough to take her anywhere so we cancelled that. New appointment is Tuesday now.

good luck. Keep in mind though that concussion symptoms are not always evident immediately. Sorry. not trying to worry you. Just have worked too many times with people with head injuries so I get a bit paranoid.

I had training die from head injuries many years ago ... it's not something I'm light with either Bambi :)

I had a good look at her helmet at the time and again since ... barely a scratch on it. Pupils were dilating properly and she hasn't shown any other unusual symptoms so I think she's ok.

okay good! I had another thought this morning and that was that I react like that to strong pain medications (narcotics). I can't take them at all. The side effects are just not worth it.

She only had some endone in the hospital after the penthox(sp?) puffer ran out.

I see I typo'd up there ... "I had a training buddy die ... " it should have been.
