Chapter 26 in the story of Lisa's Fish Creek adventures:
Today has her up at the crack of dawn heading with camera/lenses/tripod in hand to the creek. She is in search of the illusive winter frosted spider's web (really I was). She decides to avoid the nicely cleared pathways and makes a beeline for the creek. She notices X-country ski tracks and figures it would be a great idea to walk along the tracks...heck, she can walk the paved path on the way back. Walking along the tracks she sees many things. About 2.5 km form where she started from, she takes a step and all of a sudden her left foot sinks about 2 feet lower than her right.
Yes....:headslap: she is in about 2.5 feet of beautiful and cold Fish Creek water,,,the surprise sudden drop also caused her to actually fall into the creek on her left side. Fortunately camera does not follow left side in as well although tripod does. She gets out and realizes she has twisted her left ankle something fierce. :wall-an: She decides to hobble back (2.5km) to bus stop and call it a day. Limping on her good right foot and covered in ice from head to toe (water is now freezing to pants and jacket) She notices the elusive catch she had been looking for. :)

Now she is back at home desperately wanting a glass of wine to ease the throbbing pain in her foot yet cannot walk to wine store.

oh man. you need a wine store that delivers! congrats on getting the shot despite the pain and difficulty. Seems like there's a lot of it going around...I put one foot into the Pemigewasset river the other day during a shoot. no serious damage done, but massive bruising and soreness.

I twisted my ankle something fierce a few years ago. I was in Ottawa ironically. If you can get to an orthopedist or a good med supply outlet an aircast might do wonders for you. I was in one for 3 months after my ankle incident. They stabilize and restict the movement of the joint and thereby speed healing. That and frequent icings (20 mins max per session) will reduce swelling along w/the advils.

Thanks MA...Yes...I am going to Banff for 2 days...maybe 3 if I feel like it. I hired a guide photographer to take me out for the morning to the mountains and give me some shooting lessons. I hope I come back with a mess of decent shots. :fingerscr I also have another friend who had his own touring company who gave me a whack of tips on interesting places to visit within town also. :)

Have fun in Banff, who did you hire?

So know we know that you just fall into your photo subjects :headslap:

You story also stresses the importance of a wine collection :p

Hope you feel better real soon.

MA Banff is 1 hour away then we'll take you up to Jasper (http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper/index_e.asp) along the Icefields Parkway (http://www.icefieldsparkway.ca/). After a week there we'll visit Waterton (http://www.watertonpark.com/) less tourists and some excellent hikes. A quick trip into the US and we'll drive the Going to the Sun Highway for a nice view. All of this within a few hours drive from Calgary. Wow I guess I do live in a wonderful place.

have great fun and be safe. I hear it is spectacular there. can't wait to see what you come back with.

Oh and if you like viognier, try marsanne. many winemakers do blends with them adding a bit of rousanne as well.

Oh and we'll drag his butt down to the Badlands (http://albertatravel.org/Badlands_Alberta2.htm) on our way to Cypress Hills (http://www.cypresshills.com/). I'm sure I can arrange some awe inspiring mountain biking in Fernie (http://www.fernie.ca/siteengine/activepage.asp). MAW (and you didn't know you volunteered) can take over for the Vancouver and coast section of the MA sees Western Canada Tour (Tee Shirts will be printed).:lightbulb

Thanks! Sorry you guys ended up with such a curmudgeon. That fellow seems to have no personality whatsoever. He wins silver and he looks like he lost his best friend. Captive audience here... I was watching Star Trek in the bedroom but my wife made me come out and keep her company while she watched hour 36 of the Olympics. Hopefully, I can go back to watching Star Trek soon.

Canada is on my list of places to see. Has been for many years. My wife even mentioned going, while watching the Olympics the other night with a friend who was in Whistler early last year and loved it. I'm sure its a case of the grass is also greener, but sitting here in 30+degrees at 8pm the snow looks soooo nice.
