In this one all I did was mess with the saturation and cropped it a little.

Good job. About the only critique I have on this one is the lock gets a bit close to the right frame.
For me, I like to see things either have a bit of room OR be cut off difinitively. I don't like main subjects to be cramped against the sides of the photo or have a small section cut. Both look like they are over-sights or mistakes.

Sounds about right to me...
If I was being hyper critical, you could try and use a reflector to light the shadows a bit, and then increase the overall contrast on the padlock.
The paint looks good and IMO adds a splash of colour/interest to the shot.

a reflector would help (I've got one on my list, too) but I don't think the cramped composition is a bad thing with this subject. The lock itself is a constraint and the cable through it looks rather tight, so the boxed-in feeling complements things in my opinion.

again looking from laptop...but
This composition works for me and I think this shot rocks:highfive:
Can't even be sure this is 100% right (crappy laptop) gotta get a new one one day.... But perhaps both the master in blue and the lock itself could be burned in(left side only) and sharpened by 10-15% to make it pop a bit more. Just a though.
Hope that helps - Marko
