This was emailed to me this morning, it is the Fujifilm's medium-format GF670 Professional film camera will be released this year and for a someone who prefers medium format cameras for film it is good they are making them. Now for the 2k+ USD they are asking for it I could grab some outstanding almost new vintage camera that will be as sharp and as good for 2K less lol. Looks like a nice camera, I would like to take one out for a test shoot.

That is a lot of gold to fork out when you can get a used Mamiya for about $800. (They sold for about $7k in their day for those not familiar with medium format slrs) But this is a fairly compact. Still a fair bit of gold. I can totally see where it would be a great street camera though. :)

For a street photography camera a Rangefinder to me would be a far better option. And with a rangefinder you at least have lens options. As with anything it is personal choice.

Acadie I meant the GF670 as a street camera. It's not a rangefinder? I better go back and read the ad.

it looks nice and handy and easy to use. but the price tag is WOW.
anyway, i still have 2 mamiya rb6x7 bodies and 3 lenses that i can use but it is a little heavy to carry around.

This is a complete waste of cash imo... Some Fuji Hippie must have hit the bong a bit too hard on this one. It looks like a rangefinder to me...but the price....just crazy.

For that cash I could buy a GREAT used modern medium format camera plus 3 lenses and more.

I know it is not a rangefinder, what I said i would prefer a rangefinder for street photography to a GF670 for street photography. I clear it up now? lmaoooo

"focuses manually via a coupled optical rangefinder."
Have you considered a Mamiya 7 11?
You might look at these:
Mamiya 7 11 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Mamiya-7-Camera-w-80mm-lens-67-Format_W0QQitemZ300399750200QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFil m_Cameras?hash=item45f1386c38)

Mamiya 7 11 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/Mamiya-7-Rangefinder-120-or-35mm-50mm-f4-5-Lens-Camera_W0QQitemZ220560738971QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFil m_Cameras?hash=item335a71ca9b).
How much does the fuji weigh? It might be a bit big and unwieldy for shooting from the hip, if that's what you want to do.
That fixed lens is a real concern and from my perspective, a deal-breaker. Two Grand and you can't even swap out lenses?
If I really wanted this camera, I'd let somebody else spend the big bucks and buy it a couple years down the road.
You know, I get some nice pictures out of a Belfoca folder. It shoots 6x9, and fits in a breast pocket. $28(US)on Ebay. Scale focussing, though. Hmmm, how about a Speed Graphic? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_Graphic)

A friend of mine had a Plaubel Makina 670, great camera for hiking, but I think they are even more expensive if you can find one.
