Ok to get the forum back on photos I will post another from the night of the Burning Cross in the Sky. This one was a wee bit better (and no cross), I will be doing another shoot from this spot next winter and I will be better prepared. I will post a link to the larger image so you can see that is actually wrong with this one. I am putting it the Critique area because I already know what the issues are and just curious what others see that I may have overlooked.

I have shots of this place from other angles with far superior results. On this set I forgot to lock my mirror, aperture was not right, my ISO was way to high. I again didn't have my remote cord and had it set to shoot in Jpeg and not RAW which would have allowed me to make corrections, I also should have had a small shovel to notch out spots in the snow to set my tripod in. Anyway have a look and maybe it will help teach others how not to take photos at night. Again for those who did not see the other photo, temp was below minus 20c, and there was around 18" of snow I had to deal with.

Although this is an interesting scene, to me the main problem is the softness throughout the shot.

The other problems ( ie. overexposed lights) are secondary imo. I could tolerate them if the shot was sharp.

Hope that helps,

marko

P.S I hope to upload something here today as well :fingerscr

Unfortunately you are too far away and I would say "the photo" is really about a quarter or less of the image mainly at the right hand side. There is also a lot of empty black space at the bottom that requires cropping. As Marko indicated softness and overexposed lights are also issues.

ditto. there are a lot of small things that add up - but i think you already had a sense of that when you posted.
