We are still getting large amounts of rain here in Sth East Queensland (SEQ) and although we aren't in any danger of getting drowned I thought I'd take a short drive to shoot a nearby floodway.

This is literally 1 kilometre (6/10ths of a mile) away.

Excuse the water drops on the lens ... it was a tad wet out there :headslap:

Stuck in the van waiting for the rain to ease enough to venture out with the camera. Even with the Storm Jacket on the camera and lens I still wasn't game right at this time ...

The road disappears under the flood waters. The faint yellow line I drew on this shows the path of the road. It would be about 5 metres under water in the middle of this I'd guess ... I'm probably under-estimating the depth though

MA, you should have driven into the water, and taken a picture of the inside of the car while it was under the water. Then you could apologize for water on your glass.

As long as you know how to swim, and can make it out safely.

Man ... I would ... but yesterday I did an oil change, plug change, and cleaned the throttle body and now it's running better than ever .... literally ... it's never run so well ... I gotta stop paying people to service my vehicle and do it myself :headslap:

Thanks for your confidence JJ :)

Don't let my shaved cyclist legs make you think otherwise ;) I used to rebuild my own engines and even converted an automatic car I had into a manual because I was sick of blowing up gearboxes  Man I'm glad those days are behind me ... I hate working on cars these days.

Well cars used to be made for working on, there were corner service stations with a mechanic that could work on any car. Now you need a computer hook up to analyze the damn thing.

BTW I don't think you're going to have to worry about wild fires for a bit.

Wow that's a nutty amount of rain.......
Just as an FYI 1 km = .62 miles
That makes the fraction closer to 1/2 (31/50) than 1/6

A little more for a few days but easing off now :)

Thanks Marko ... don't know what my fingers were thinking ... my mind was thinking 6/10ths

Greg ... they had the fire alert set at 2% during all that. I said to my wife a couple of days ago ... I dare someone to try to start one in this!

Nope Bambi ... back on the bikes tomorrow ... a few showers won't hurt us :)
