[Wicked Dark]

These are the first flowers that bloom in my yard each spring. They're only 1-2 inches high and 1/4 inch across or less. So tiny. You'd hardly think they'd be important, but early insects love them. If you look, you can see tiny grains of pollen. Tentatively identified as Whitlow Grass.

Taken with the Olympus manual 90mm f2 macro lens with 25mm extension tube; natural light, cropped and converted to B&W in Lightroom with curves tweaked to bring up that stem.

Well, you're farther along in your identification than I normally am. Typical conversation about flower photos:

Coworker: "What kind of flower is that?"
Me: "It's yellow."

I'm seeing the first tiny blooms here, too. And some of the trees in the apartment complex near work are starting to bloom. The oak trees should follow pretty soon, and the first buds of milkweed plants. Those seem to drive light meters crazy. I'm planning on experimenting a bit more this year, to see if I can tame the glare.

Olympus is a 4/3rd system :) and I'm guessing that he took this photo with an Olympus Digital E system.

Thanks guys.

This was taken with an E-30 which is a 4/3rds camera and pretty much the only one I use these days. I bought it with the intent to use my old 90mm macro lens and the combo is pretty great.

Gosh it's so nice to see all the flowers here...another beauty WD...we have a couple more weeks to go yet...the leaves are up but no signs of flowers yet.

It is a lovely, delicate flower. Nice catch. Soon we'll have the first buds as well.
