Last week there was a huge Condominium fire in Calgary causing millions dollars of damage and leaving hundreds of people homeless.
It was just announced that it was caused by a single lit cigarette discarded into a planter.
CTV Calgary- Millrise fire determined accidental - CTV News (http://calgary.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20100322/CGY_millrise_fire_100322/20100322/?hub=CalgaryHome)

Do people not realize that the lit end is actually on fire and can cause everything from major forest and grass fires to house and condo fires?
I mean I don't get it.....why do people think they can haphazzardly discard them in such careless manners by tossing them in planters or throwing them out car windows?
I saw a guy today just toss it on the ground before I heard about this...didn't even attempt to extinguish it. :wall-an:
End vent. :thankyou:

It's like following a car and someone flicks one out their window, it's like sending off a flare indicating; "I'm an imbecile and I don't give a **** about anyone but my selfish self."

I think charges should be laid There is no excuse for this behavior.

But that is my opinion.

I've had it happen on my condo balcony...someone on one of the upper floors tossed a lit cigarette off the balcony. The wind blew it onto my deck below. I found it one day next day laying there right where it had smoldered and burned a decent hole right into the outdoor carpeting through to the concrete below the carpeting. :wall-an:

Smoking is still the most confusing thing to remain legal in modern society
