I said to myself, "Self, why not show the original as well?"

Here it is.

I like the black and white better, too, and I'm not usually a fan of it. And somehow, you've managed to make it look good on my monitor! B&W frequently looks muddy to me. Keep doing whatever you did for this one.

Funny you should say that. I think it looks too black. It could do with being a bit more muddy :)

I have to say the B&W is my fave here too, good capture.

I tend to agree with M.A. on the B&W. At first I was taken with it but after some thought and looking over them both I am going to say I prefer the colour version for it's almost 'painterly' feel. Lovely capture. :)

Very nicely done.:thumbup: Just for sake of confusion though, I'd like to recommend you try a sepia toned version. This scene screams sepia to me.

I agree with Iggy on this one. Either sepia or really desaturate the colours

what an intriguing picture. sets my mind to wondering what happened to make the owner abandon that property. agreed about the monochrome, but then I like b&w for a lot of things.

Thanks for the input on this one. I continued to work on it after posting these untill I managed to get just what I wanted in the B&W version which is a nearly coal black sky in what would be the blue areas while regaining at least some detail in other areas that had fallen into the zero zone.
