Hi Kevin. I really like the tones and the tree looks great as a sillouhette on the bluish sky. I would maybe have tried to get the main branches of the big tree above the treeline in the background so that you really see the difference between the two elements of the shot - Maybe just by taking the shot closer to ground level. Also would consider getting rid of the few branches on the right hand side. Just a thought.

Gee this look like a complicated image, I think it would be fine to try our HDR in this case, long exposure for the bottom and quicker for the sky then merge them into one.

I think a step to the right might have eliminated those few branches poking in and also moved the main subject just a tad away from those background trees as well.

I like the exposure here and personally think you made good choices here. Good sharpness too.

Yea I never thought about the HDR. I just had to try it and this is what I got. I think I like it because you see more detail in the fog along with the touch of green from the grass in the bottom right.

Actually I liked the more mystery look in the first one myself. Perhaps now combining those two would give the best look?

Those are two completely different photos to me. I like the second one a lot. Astonishing that you can manipulate the raw image to that point. Great example for me as I love scenery like this and often get stuck with how to expose the details like the fog. Thanks.
