Several of these trees planted next to office buildings. Some of them have acquired chicken wire to keep the beavers from chewing them down.

Walking the trail at one of my nature haunts today I came across a felled tree around nine inches thick. This beaver used to have limits! An old timer happened along the trail, stopped then said..."Damned beavers gone sideways I'm thinkin"
"It's sure setting it's sight higher"
I'm not even sure chicken wire would hold this bugger back. He's got to be sharpening his teeth because the trees go unused and are half a mile from the nearest river :)

Oh. I guess mine are teaching yours tricks. Because they definitely fell trees that large. They just don't always make sure the tree will fall clear of the other ones. There's a tree part way into the river next to a spot that sinks suddenly. Makes for some interesting interplay with the water. I'll have to go back and play with that some more.
