Some images are made from 3-4 photos, stock photos.
I like the idea.
I saw the article with this photos in Digital SLR Photography, a UK magazine (a very good one).

I've seen these before also and refuse to call that stuff photography I'm afraid. Although a couple are I suppose. But most are graphic art with a small part starting as photography and loads of graphic imagery added.

Having said that ... it's VERY cool Graphic art!!!

MA, it is and it's not only graphics art.
Here : Dave Hill Photography (http://www.davehillphoto.com/bts/) you can see how much work is behind every "photo" (I'm sure that you already check that).
Lots of photos, costumes, people, almost like in a movie.
That's actually 100% digital photography, IMO, because in digital photography you can crop, clone out, modify everything, and for me it's like cheating.
That's why I'm not using anymore Photoshop and just Lightroom or Aperture, because you don't have the same freedom like in Photoshop to post process.

Anyway, that's digital photography pushed at the max, it looks more like graphics but it's a mixture.
I'm not an expert, but this is what I believe at the moment.

Even considering he uses digital photography to create these images it still doesn't change the fact for me that this is not photography itself. It's digital art. Brilliant digital art! Lots of effort to create. I get all that. But those scenes do not, nor did they ever exist. The images no longer look like photography. So, for me, they aren't.

But as I said ... awesome stuff. I really do like what he's creating. But for me, he's creating digital/graphic art by using photographic elements.

No doubt he's a very good photographer too.

Indeed, is more digital art created by his vision, photographic skills and graphic skills.

Yeh ... and I could still spend hours looking at his work though! :)

I agree 100%! This is fantastic work of the highest caliber but it is not photography as it cannot be achieved with a camera. (needs a computer)
