Went out for a bit today with the d90 and the 70-300. Camera was somehow sluggish and twice came up with a "CHA" error. I shut it down, remounted the lens which seemed to help. The camera felt different today for some reason. If it's hooped, I'll get it repaired, sell it and get into a D300s :)

I thought you have the D700.

I went through a bought of that, and there have been reports of problems mostly with the kit lens. Some folks ended up getting the camera repaired, had no problems after that.

But try this first. Ran across a post where a woman said she noticed one day that when she put her camera in the bag the strap was pressing up against the lens release. She made sure she didn't do that from then on, and that cleared up the problem for her. In my case, it wasn't the strap, but one of the foam inserts. I positioned it so that it couldn't possibly get near the release, and haven't had problems unless I get in a hurry and shove the body against the insert again.

The D90 rides in the bag without a lens attached so I think that rules out that idea:) I'm sort of suspecting the SD card at this point as some of my NEF file from this shoot won't open and others have issues with some sort of digital banding. I remember now having issues a couple of nights ago when trying to capture some video of Maxi. The video locked up. Coincidentally the problems also coincide with my using the two external buttons to erase the card rather than formatting from the menu.

Well the problem I'm having as Nikon told me, is a failure to read the manual. On page 241 it states which SD cards work with the d90, any others can produce error states in the camera. Panasonic, Toshiba, Scandisc and Lexar all work with little miss D90. The Kingston 8GB that the Camera store recomended produced errors now and again and the 32GB verbatim card sent the camera into la la land:laughing: Just picked up a lower end Scandisc 16GB and all is normal again.....Read the manual ...:laughing::laughing:
