so here are the beginnings of photos from this hike. To get to the start of the trail you walk 3 kms down the beach. You are then greeted with this sign:

as you enter the trail it looks like this:don't let the size of the trees fool you. This is an old forest. However, because of conditions the trees don't grow that big. some assume some fantastic shapes as they grow. The yellow is the trail marker. As you go in it is painted on rocks, trees, stumps whatever is handy

as you mount the slope you start to get a glimpse of some of the upcoming vistas:

leaving the woods, here is the first vista:

looking back the way we came (I am doing my best to stay away from the cliff edges but admit that I left the trail a bit):

and I took this of my fellow hiker/photographer. I thought that it added interest to the shot :)

thanks Iggy! It is. Not for the weak kneed though. I mean that literally, the up/down/over roots and rocks was hard on the knees!

you can see how the cliffs erode and the trees end up falling:

and we round the head we can get right down to the shore. You can see the rocks and how sharp they are:

I just love the leaning trees (bonsai) in Post 3...reminds me of home...the other side of Canada. :)
What a beautiful place B.

Love that tree falling/ cliff photo especially! It looks bloody windy out there too!

thanks Jas, it was very windy and the way that the trees were growing certainly shows the prevailing direction. Here's a picture I took using the remote of my friend and me. I'm on the right and am in desperate need of a haircut!

that's a lobster boat in the background checking pots. I couldn't get close enough to it to get a good shot :(

You could have hidden the remote!! :headslap:

I really like the 2nd shot in post 3!

Looks like an area full of character to capture :)

lol still figuring out the distance. it didn't seem to work at first and then it did. Have I mentioned that I'm not good at subterfuge? :D

just a few more, I promise :)

It seems that wherever there are rocks, people feel the need to build these:

someone also dragged this chair about 2 kms through the trails to place at the head of the point. it was nice to sit there and look around. It would be the perfect spot for a picnic.

The chair is an interesting shot, and the rocks almost look like wood after it's weathered a few years.
