well there's not many mirrors at the cottage.... just this little one for shaving... I thought it made for an interesting capture....
What do you think? Snapshot or Art?

In short, yes. I think you've got the makings of a really good image here, but it's not quite there. As-is the excessive highlights on the mullions don't really work for me, but what I think it really needs is a selective colouration; say a B&W scene with the mirror/reflection in colour, or everything foreground B&W and that outside the windows in colour. Excellent idea though - I like it.

thanks... this is my uncle who was up for a visit... and you are right... not many people seems to shave at the cottage do it doesn't get used much ...except by female guests visiting from Toronto who still feel the need to apply lipstick while sitting in the middle of the bush...

lol - i was thinking that you were probably a little younger than the man in the mirror... :)
and the use of the mirror sounds about right - us crazy women and our lipstick! haha!

well... at first i was gonna to you to pass to dutchie... but on second look there does appear to be a second image behind the mirror.... bizarre... i can't image this to be me because my mug was buried behind the camera.... a cottage ghost perhaps????

Well.... it's been a while since i've had time to hang around and play with paintshop.... this one was on my list and thanks Tirediron for the suggestion....
i also changed his shirt from grey to green to help promote the colourization in the mirror...
and dodged around his eyes and sharpened his beard bit.... and removed some blotches that were on the mirror....
anyone like??

i dig it - but the "eye behind the mirror" stands out a bit more in black and white

I very much encourage this type of 'play' :highfive: and I find this to be an intriguing shot. It reminds me of some shots I took when I was experimenting years ago...ahh memories. :)
I do like the b/w shot better and I would try 2 more things for play if you were feeling playful. (In addition, I'd play with the levels with your image in the mirror.)
I'd try the following:
- the whole shot in black and white
- The opposite of post 9. The face and mirror in b/w, everything else in colour.
Hope that helps and Good play!

thanks Marko.... I tried the whole image in BW and nothing really stood out..... I'll try reversing the colours to make the subject BW next...
EDIT: thank you also CDANDDVDPUBLISHER..... didn't see your post.... yes the mystery eye is there to stay.... I enjoy to see who notices it when I show this image...
