I went outside to take a few shots as the wildlife out here give me the opportunity whenever i want. Set up the tripod, turned on the camera , composed my shot and ...........NOTHING! The busy signal comes on in my viewfinder. The only thing that works is the auto focus. I tried my other lenses, memory cards and fresh batteries and still nothing. Anyone else have this problem with a canon?

Hmm..first thing that came to my mind was battery but you changed that. Then lens because I had that happen but I get an error with it. Do you have any settings in your menu on?? for like times shooting or something.

Sorry I am of no help. I sure hope you get it figured out!

Not sure but here are some things you probably tried...

Did you try it in other situations? I know when I was unable to get a focus lock the camera would simply not let me shoot unless I was in fully manual mode. Move away from the subject and try again. Shoot at the house across the street.

The lens is clicked into place?

The battery is seated properly?

The memory card is inserted correctly and not locked?

I think there's a way to set it back to factory settings. Did you try that?

Good luck! :fingerscr:fingerscr

my auto focus works, just wont take a pic, busy starts to blink in viewfinder. If this is a canon only problem i am not amused.

after looking for a quick fix online i have found that canon has what they call a "phenomenon" in what i have encountered. So it's off to the shop and see what the damges are. I hope it's not too steep.

Strange. :fingerscr I've been shooting for over a year with my XSI - approaching 8,000 activations and haven't run into it. :fingerscr

Good luck!
