If anyone has this lens could you let me know what you think of it? I am thinking of getting one but would like an opinion first. The reviews look good...

I ended up buying the Canon 18-55mm EF-S lens. Cheap but better than I expected.

I have the lens, but I've only had it for a few weeks. Still trying to find that sweet spot. Forget shooting wide open with it and even at f/8 to f/11 the bottom corners are gonna be a bit soft. Colors and contrast are excellent and its sharp as a tack from the center outwards almost all the way to the edge of the frame. I have no regrets other than in an effort to support and build a relationship with the only locally owned camera shop within well over a hundred miles of me I ended up paying much more than I should have.

Both of these shots were made with it.

Well, it is always a question about the price. But I never heard any negative word about this lens, but always good critiques.
