My friend Terry and I decided to road trip out to the prairies yesterday with no plan...just s top through Drumheller and then make our way back via the side roads to Calgary. It was nice to get away from the piles of homework I have sitting on my desk. I have 8 assignments due this week and a midterm to write sometime before tomorrow. :headslap:
Anyhow I had fun but the wind was ice cold and brutal...I could hardly stand up straight let alone hold the camera...so we cut it a bit short. We will go back in a couple weeks to try again and take another route.

Here's another from our adventure.

In this one you can see the flat blown down grasses from the wind. Most of the time it was "see a shot, run out of the car, get a few shots at different angles, run back to the car ASAP to warm up and prevent frostbite!" I think I did okay under the circumstances!

One more thing I should note...I have decided to reduce the image quality in any future images I post that I am posting on flickr. With all the theft/copyright infringement of late, for me, I feel this is the best way I have to prevent illegal copying of images. They can have the shot, but not do too much with it as far as printing or enlarging goes. So forgive me if the aren't as large as before or as detailed, I am just not willing to post them at full quality/resolution any more.

Nice shots, you missed a real good wind Friday. Yellow Headed Blackbird was blown across the roof of the blind when he landed

I was watching poor crows try to fly into the wind...it was kinda sad to watch them struggle so much.

Let the crows struggle some. We had to watch a crow empty a nest of it's eggs the other day, just nature doing it's thing but you feel for the chickadee parents.

Sounds like horrible conditions! Definitely looks worth a visit when weather is better.

Awesome captures Casil.

Have you found your images used elsewhere? How did you discover them?

I'm curious too. Has it been a problem for you or are you just hearing about other people having images taken?

I haven't had anything ripped off that I am aware of, but the Imagelogr post was a recent wake-up call. I know of at least one person who found their images on that site (in another forum) without their permission before it went down. I also know of another person who had images ripped off from flickr and found out about it.
I guess I just figure it is best to be safe rather than sorry and I personally am not a big fan of watermarks...some people are and that works great for them, but for me it just works to try to keep the images below 200mp...I had it up to almost 500mp at one point which was just silly.

The internet is famous for theft, people steal other peoples words all the time and some of them should know better. It happens at professional levels, some people make a living providing training through information they stole of the web. Plagiarism is rampant you can have an instructor that will get you remove from a college for it while they teach you with it :wall-an:

At the end of the day I am just doing what I think is best for me...:)My intent was never tell others what to do, or pass judgement on anybody in any way. I just thought it was best to explain that my shots will be both smaller and a bit less quality than what I've posted in the past in case anybody is thinking "What the heck is going on with her shots?" That's it....that's all. :)

FWIW.....I think the internet is a great tool for research and information. Lol which can be both a blessing and a curse I guess. I use it to enhance my learning in school all the time as well as my learning for leisure. People who abuse or steal or that kind of thing IMO are just lazy and the kind of people that just look for a "quick fix/get rich quick" type of life. :)
