Thanks also JAS ... as far as I know only the males have that irridescent green. Perhaps that's not the case? I'm no duck expert :)

Very nice shot. As for the green I was educated by a duck lover. "Mr. Mallard has a green head." The background is awesome. You slowed the shutter down and what I assume is flowing water looks like silk. Nice! :clap::clap:

Ahhh ... so that's how you tell! Green head ... will remember that.

The water is just a pond, not moving. There was a bit of wind around so that probably accounts for the bokeh effect.
