So yesterday wasn't a successful venture into the woods. Hot. Humid. Buggy. But since I was out there I took a not-so-direct route back to my car that took me by one of my favorite ponds. I've shot it before and always find something interesting and soothing about it every time I go there. So when I perched on a rock to have some lunch and the deer and horseflies stopped with their kamikaze raids on my flesh, I had time to get this -

Yeah, it's just a beaver pond (they've been working on the dam this spring and the stream is now a trickle) but I like it. Anyway, I thought I'd share my Friday lunch location.

thank you for taking me with you. I love how peaceful this is. I can hear the birds singing.

Beautiful shot WD. Looks like a wonderful place to sit and watch, and listen.
Some people see only a beaver pond, but others of us see a whole eco-sytem unto its own.

thanks guys. It felt like a haven when I was there. The flies somehow couldn't find me, only ants, which I can take. You're right about the eco system HBG, that's exactly what beavers create when they so selfishly make a pond. If I hung around longer I'm sure I'd see not only them, but turtles and water birds. I found another woodland pond not far from this one and if it were less buggy and humid I would have had the where-with-all to explore it, but that can be another day.
