I thought I'd post this as I find this a really influential book. As most will know, Ted Hughes was an immensely gifted poet once married to Sylvia Plath who tragically took her own life. The book does not focus on that but instead on rural industrial landscapes which at the time of print (1979) were almost like ghost towns. It's not like that now as these out-of-town near to city villages have been revitalised over the past few decades but still the book serves as a memento of faded glories where the scenes have been captured ever so skillfully in the beautiful images of Fay Godwin who offers us bleak uncompromising scenes alongside Hughes' penned poetics.
When creative minds of different persuasions work together, sometimes the results can be extraordinary and I heartily recommend this to any photographers interested in landscape and literature.
