Another Sunset On the Bow River and Another HDR

A better day all round. The sunset was better, my photos were sharper.
The mountains are peeking through the clouds to the west and if you look for it , you can see a magpie's nest. (or is it a raven's?)

And dammit, I like those highrises in the background. :)

I like the scene and composition in this one, but I'm not sure that HDR was the medium; I think perhaps this would have been more effectively executed using a couple of stops of G-ND to enhance the sky as well bring out a little more shore detail.

I quite like this indeed; it's moody - has a good lookin sky with some nice contrasty branches, some city and buildings in the bkgd for juxtaposition. Interesting composition. It's working for me! :highfive:

I do like and agree with T.I. increasing shore detail comment. There's more detail you can bring out in the grass below the trees. I think you could also go a bit lighter in most of the foreground as well. Not too much - maybe 15%-20%..

These are minorish tweaks for me tho - well done!

This is a nice shot!!

EDIT : Ooops it's a critique photo. Lets see .... nup ... I got nothing ... I like this just the way it is. Any more detail in the shadows will ruin the twilight feel you've captured.

I have a little question regarding the histogram when working with the hdr's. If you take the colorcast out of the photo using the eyedropper tool, you always end up with a crazy overworked histogram. So what to do?

Ignore it. With a photo that size your eye can see what it needs to :)

Although I like the lightened version on screen, after a test print of both I find the darker one is nicer. Much less blueness to it.
